Teaching Writing Using Pop Up Media For Kindergarten Students



Kindergarteners are actively engaged in all aspects of language arts as they develop their oral language skills and begin to read and write. In kindergarten, children learn to recognize the letters of the alphabet and understand the sounds letters make. Students in kindergarten learn to hold a crayon and pencil correctly and print the letters of the alphabet in upper- and lowercase forms. Teachers lead discussions on the meanings of words and encourage students to express themselves in complete thoughts. In kindergarten, students listen to a wide variety of children’s literature, respond to questions, picture, pop up media and retell stories. Students learn to read some words by sight such as “the,” and write consonant-vowel-consonant words such as “cat.” While children develop at different rates, by the end of kindergarten, most children should be able to use their knowledge of sounds, picture, and pop up media to write simple sentences.
·     Kindergarten: The Writing Process
In kindergarten, students are introduced to the writing process through shared writing activities, in which the teacher show pop up media and students contribute to it orally. In kindergarten, students are taught to use each phase of the writing process as follows:
      Prewriting : Students generate ideas for writing through class by pop up media.
   Drafting     : Students participate in drafting writing by see the pop up media which shown by their teacher
      Publishing : Students participate in producing, illustrating, and sharing a finished piece of writing.

·     Teaching Prosedure
There some prosedure to teach writing for kindergarten by use pop up media that should understood by teacher before teach:
-Teacher show the pop up media to the kindergarten students.
When in the class, teacher should show the pop up media to the students before starting lesson. Teacher can describe about the pop up media such as pop up is made by paper, there are interest pictures with different colour and the paper can be folded and finally will shape the object such as house, forest, bed room, etc.
-Techer explain media pop up about
For example teacher show pop up media about forest

 

  So, teacher have to explain about forest such as the environment, ecosistems, the animals, etc.
For example: Forest is the place that has many trees, flowers and also  there are many animals in there such as tiger, lion, bird, snake and etc. The air in the forest is fresh because there are many trees so just a little sun shine that can enter to there.
-After teacher explain of course student will understand about forest.
-After see the pop up media, student sure will have imagination about that. Such as describe the place “forest has many trees” , environment, and etc.
-The student have to writing what have in their mind about the pop up media on their paper
-If have finished, the student have to submit their task to the teacher.

·     Conclusion
Write is difficult for kindergarten, so the teacher have to include interest technique which can increase their spirit to write a paragraph, pop up media can be used.
Kindergarten students can writing by using pop up media. So the teacher can using that media to make kindergarten easier to writing a paragraph. Before starting lesson, teacher have to show and explain pop up madia about and when the students see the pop up media, they sure have imagination and also can describe by see it such as about condition, environment,  and then they will begin to write what have they think on the paper.
